Ingredients

  • 1 pound macaroni

  • 4 cups chicken broth

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Add the macaroni, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the Instant Pot.
  • Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.
  • Once the timer goes off, do a quick release of pressure and open the lid.
  • Add the butter, heavy cream, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese to the pot. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  • Serve hot, garnished with additional shredded cheese and chopped parsley, if desired.

Notes

  • More heavy cream or milk can be added to the sauce for a creamier mac and cheese.
  • If you don’t have any chicken broth, you can use water or veggie broth.
  • Diced tomatoes, mustard, or any sauce are a few more seasonings or components you can incorporate into the sauce.
